Olympus E-3 - full review and video tour
The Olympus E-3 is the long-awaited new flagship of the Four Thirds standard. The E-3 doubles its predecessor's resolution to 10 Megapixels, features tough weather-proof construction, built-in image stabilisation, a fully-articulated screen with Live View, and of course the legendary SSWF anti-dust filter. Olympus has also addressed two concerns with the Four Thirds standard by equipping the E-3 with a large viewfinder and a new 11-point AF system which it claims is the World's fastest. It's an impressive specification, but directly up against models like the Nikon D300, not to mention the more affordable Canon EOS 40D and Sony Alpha A700. To find out how it compares and whether it's a contender in the semi-pro market, check out our Olympus E-3 review - and as always for a demonstration of its features, see our Olympus E-3 video tour.

The Windows Mojave experiment results
Yesterday I posted about Microsoft Windows Mojave, an experiement in perception.
A set of people were asked what they think is bad on Windows Vista during the Mojave Experiment. Their answers were recorded. They were then shown "Microsoft Windows Mojave", a new operating system that impressed everyone.
Microsoft then revealed "Windows Mojave" and "Windows Vista" are the same one.
I have just found out the full "Mojave Experiment" results will be available 29th July on The Mojave Experiment website.

I must be one of the most unluckiest people here...
My grief began when we got our D-Link DSL-504T router... back then, ADSL2+ was starting to become widespread news. It didn't matter too much to me at that stage.
Then I find out that we're going to be on hold for ADSL2+ support, even though support is available through a firmware upgrade we're still waiting for!
Then life goes on and we needed wireless (lappie, iPod...). My mum bought a WRT54G last year to compliment our router. Well, I knew that performance wasn't going to be as good as Ethernet, but.... I had 2mbps over Wi-Fi standing right next to the router!!!
I looked online, found out that other 3rd party firmwares exist for our WRT54G... all but for v7.
... and you guessed it - we got a v7. Not a v7.2, but a v7.
Damn.
I even used the Ethernet connection coming out of the WRT54G, and it was only slightly better (I got 3mbps...
Now with such a shambles of a network we have at our house, no wonder we're not progressing our Internet capabilities to the maximum, and our investment is now nearly useless.
Wish I could sell them all... except that I don't own the gear... my mum does - and she's not up for ADSL2+ and doesn't care.
If I got to manage our gear, I would sell them and get something like a RTA1025W (or anything good for ADSL2+ and provides a respectable speed over Wi-Fi)
[Envies everyone else with a better networking system than me]
Joby Gorillapod SLR Zoom - full review
Joby's Gorillapod SLR Zoom is designed for those who want the stability of a tripod, without the inconvenience of lugging one around. Like earlier Gorillapods, flexible jointed legs allow you to securely grab onto almost any object or surface from curved railings to tree branches. Once locked into place you can then comfortably take long or multiple exposures, along with self-timer shots. The big difference with the SLR Zoom Gorillapod is it can support weights up to 3kg, thereby accommodating semi-pro DSLRs, while remaining light and portable. Is it the perfect tripod for you? Find out in our Joby Gorillapod SLR Zoom review.

Toshiba Satellite M300-S1002X
Toshiba’s latest business notebook, the M300, won’t blow your hair back with whiz-bang features and record-shattering performance, but it’s a very solid package that covers all the basics one needs in a laptop that’s somewhere between an ultra-portable and a desktop replacement. This 14.1” notebook is tastefully appointed in a Titanium Silver finish, weighs just 5.2lbs, and has one of the best keyboards we’ve ever sampled in a notebook. Though its trialware issues and long boot time are easily remedied, its lack of security features –either biometric or facial recognition – are disappointing on a laptop aimed at business users. Overall it’s still a surprisingly well-polished machine that is extremely affordable and easy to live with.

Windows Server 2008 is my Desktop Workstation
After hearing lots of good stuffs about this new SERVER product from Microsoft called Windows Server 2008, I took the decision to move from Windows Vista Ultimate to Windows Server 2008 Enterprise Edition
The good thing is, Windows Server 2008 can be configured as a fully featured desktop workstation. Your one stop guide for completing this ‘awesome’ task is here
Below is my laptop configuration:
2) 4 GB RAM
I have Windows Server 2008 Enterprise x86 Edition installed
Below is the list of software installed:
1) Apple Bootcamp
2) Microsoft Office 2007
3) Microsoft Visio 2007
4) Mozilla Firefox
5) Skype
6) Apple Quicktime
7) Apple iTunes
8 ) Windows Live
- Live Writer
- Live Messenger
- Live Photo Gallery
9) Foxit PDF Reader
10) Flashget Download Manager
11) Virtual PC
12) Kaspersky Internet Security
13) tWhirl
14) Windows Mobile Device Center 6.1
This server is Fast, Sleek, and Customizable (in Features and Roles). That’s a huge benefit over Vista where many services get started no matter you use them.
I have also moved my development stuffs to a virtual environment now and virtual machines run quite fast than in Vista here. Yes, I am quite happy with Virtual PC 2007 and I don’t think I would install x64 version just for Hyper-V. The application support for x64 sucks!
Everything works good in my setup including sleep, shutdown and hibernate
So far, my experience of having Windows Server 2008 as my main desktop workstation is good and I think I will continue to stay on this for a long, long time until Windows 7 comes out
